for everyone

Wanted to try the kueh Pitu at this famous stall in geyland but there was a long queue (not as bad as those queuing for bak hwa at Lim Chwee Guan at Chinatown but it was a rainy day and I didnt like queuing so I decided to skip the stall for now) and walked over to Joo Chiat Complex to look at some cloths (If you are looking for cheap and beautiful varieties of cloths, this will be the place to go instead of going people park complex, spotlight or Woodlands Mall next to the causeway). After that, I noted the road besides the complex was named "Joo Chiat Road" and wondered if it led straight down to Marine Parade. Seeing that quite a number of cars was driving along this one way street, I decided to take a walk along the road.

It was liked walking in the past with the lovely peranakan shophouses lining up along the road. As you walked further down the road, there were less cars driving past. I counted at least 3 Hotel 81 along this street. I was thinking that if this place could become the "chinatown" of the East, how interesting it would be. The place sure deserved more improvements from the authority. Found some interesting food stalls too like the "original Popiah stall of Joo Chiat and Kueh Pie Pie" and a stall selling nothing but otahs, Also there was a furniture shop selling 2nd hand furnitures from 5stars Hotels. I also took a look inside Katong Shopping Centre before heading to Parkway Parade, my final desination (Actually it was to be East Coast Park but the rain refused to stop. ) Oh, and I finally realised where the famous laksa stalls and Black Canyon Cafe (from Thailand) were.....and surprisingly, there was a Settler's Cafe nearby too.....

Parkway Parade was overwhelmingly crowded wherealas Joo Chiat Road and Katong Shopping Centre were quitet. I just stayed for awhile before heading, en route I dropped by Bukit Panjang Library and found this new book by Nicolas Sparks "Dear John" - I will save that book for CNY to pass the time, back home.
